Getting Started in Hold the Last Line
Claim the daily gift, open your first chests, and keep Brainrot off the last house.
Hold the Last Line is Sixcube’s free Roblox PvE shooter. You load into a courtyard and castle-wall map with a last house that doubles as spawn. Up to twelve players share the server. Your job is not to tour the whole map. Your job is to keep mutated Brainrot enemies, winter festival mobs, and later giants off that house. This page is the first-hour walkthrough. Pair it with How to Play once you understand chests, and with Controls if you cannot find inventory. The rest of the set lives on the Guides Hub.
The place launched on 18 August 2025 at Hold the Last Line on Roblox. There is no paid gamepass wall. Voice chat is not supported on the listing, so callouts happen in text or not at all. Average sessions are short. Treat the first ten minutes as setup, not as a speedrun into the boss.
Spawn, the last house, and the daily gift
You appear at or near the last house. On-screen prompts tell you to be careful of zombies and protect the spawn point. Believe them. The house is the fail condition. If the horde walks through an empty doorway while the squad is farming a single crocodile-shaped meme in the courtyard, the line is already broken.
Walk back into the spawn room before you start spraying. Public sessions show a daily reward sitting there. It is easy to skip because gunfire starts immediately. Claim it. The gift is small compared with a god-roll chest, but it is free and it costs one extra second. While you are inside, glance at the codes hub so you are not redeeming a dead string mid-wave. Redemption steps live on how to redeem.
Your first gun and the chest loop
You start with a rifle. It is enough to clear early ground zombies if you hold fire and aim at heads. Do not sell it or drop it because a teammate is waving a shiny pistol. You will swap later with the number keys.
Chests are the real onboarding. Follow the on-screen arrow or signal toward a marked case. Interact with E on keyboard. Early pulls players actually show on video include a Nightblade pistol chest, a bow-and-arrow chest, and a sniper rifle chest. Sixcube advertises seven weapons plus god-roll affixes in Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Poison. This guide lists only those confirmed guns plus other rolls from chests. If a later case spits out a heavy launcher or an ice bow, that is chest luck, not a secret eighth starter.
Opening a case is not the same as using the gun. New players in public videos open a bow, press random numbers, and keep shooting the old rifle. Open inventory with B, then hit the green Equip Best control at the top. If Equip Best refuses the new bow, the game thinks your current rifle is stronger. That is a roll problem, not a broken bind. Compare stats on the weapon tier list and the affix list instead of assuming every chest is an upgrade.
Coins, keys, and upgrades
Kills drop coins. Some objectives also drop keys. One public session tells a player to come to an upgrade point with ten keys. You do not need a spreadsheet on day one. You do need to stop shooting long enough to spend what you earned. Upgrade during a lull, not while a giant is already on the tiles. An on-screen signal often points at the upgrade before the boss music hits. Follow it.
Do not dump every coin into a second chest if your current gun has not been upgraded once. A Nightblade with a dead affix loses to a starting rifle that you actually upgraded. Use the loadout tool after the session if you want a quieter place to think about slots.
Survive the first waves
Early enemies include regular ground zombies plus Brainrot meme creatures. Winter Festival art and sessions add gingerbread figures and snowmen. They still path toward spawn. Keep distance. Watch your back. The official description repeats those two lines for a reason: the courtyard is open, the wall has angles behind you, and a single runner will tag you while you hipfire the crowd in front.
Stand where you can see the house door and a lane. Stairs are a trap if the whole squad piles on them. One person can hold a stair, but someone else has to see the courtyard floor. If you die, you respawn. Use that. Do not tilt-chase the mob that killed you into a bad angle.
Number keys 1 and 2 swap the guns you actually equipped. Keep the rifle for dense waves and try the pistol or bow when you have space to aim. Bows in video can be powered up for heavier hits. Snipers belong on the wall or a far courtyard line, not in a doorway. Details on when to swap live in How to Play.
What not to do on a fresh account
Do not leave spawn empty. Do not ignore the daily gift. Do not open a chest and forget Equip Best. Do not tap-fire if hold-to-shoot is how the gun works. Do not assume the first giant is a regular zombie because the map lighting changed. When the sky or music shifts, you are in a boss wave. Back up, keep the house covered, and switch to the boss guide rather than dumping magazines into the torso.
Limited event weapons such as the Snow Gun (Snowflake Coins during Winter Festival) and Frost Dragon ice rolls are optional on day one. Read Winter Festival after you can hold two waves without losing the door. Group news from Sixcube is on the Roblox group.
First-session checklist
Join a server. Claim the daily reward in the spawn room. Shoot with the starting rifle until you can afford a marked chest. Open it with E. Press B, then Equip Best. Bind in your head that 1 and 2 swap. Hold a lane that still sees the last house. Spend keys on an upgrade before the lighting changes. If a prompt offers a spin wheel, take the potion and go back to the door. That is a complete first session even if you never see the giant. The boss can wait until the house is actually held.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for wave defense, weapons, and codes.
Is Hold the Last Line free to play?
Yes. It is a free Roblox PvE shooter by Sixcube with no listed gamepasses. You still spend in-match coins and keys on chests and upgrades.
What weapon do I start with?
A rifle. Early chests can add a Nightblade pistol, a bow, or a sniper. Sixcube advertises seven weapons total; other rolls come from chests, not from a published starter kit.
I opened a chest but I still have the old gun. Why?
Opening is not equipping. Press B for inventory, then use the green Equip Best button. If it refuses, the new roll is weaker than what you hold. See Controls.
Where is the daily reward?
In the spawn room at the last house. Claim it before you run into the courtyard. Pair it with a codes check.
Should I chase kills away from spawn?
No. Protect the last house first. How to Play covers lane jobs. How to Beat the Boss covers the giant without abandoning the door.
